The guards insist that a queen would never order the assignation of another wife or prince, but admit that the succession war changes things.

They said that while their mission is truly to protect the infant prince, they’re also required to make sure that no harm befalls the queen and princes they’re employed by. The men also reveal that the five guards to have died weren’t strictly on Prince Wobble’s side either. He manages to calm her down in order to get more information from them. Queen Otio is initially upset and demands that Kurapika shoot them. They go on to explain that they and five others serve as spies, each hand chosen by one of the higher ranking queens to keep an eye on the new wife and her children. Two of Queen Otio’s guards reluctantly admit to knowing about the wars. What went down this week: Kurapika has finished explaining what he knew to his fellows guard and demands to known who knew of the succession wars. We also learn that something has been killing several of Prince Wobble’s guards, and the remaining men may know something about it.
Great effort is being put into ensuring that the succession wars cannot possibly begin until after arrival on the Dark Continent.

Where the manga left us last week: We got to learn a little bit about the ship as well as the dynamics of the princes. While this one did have much action it was a lot more readable than the previous one had been. Last week’s chapter was slow and a bit of an information dump.
